며칠 전 교회 성도님 한 분한테서 받은 e-mail인테 마음에 닿아서 여기 소개합니다. 70-80 년대 미국에서 활약한 George Carlin이 최근 사랑하던 사람을 먼저 보내면서 쓴 글입니다. 번역하는 것 보다 영어 그대로 된 표현이 더 나를 것 같아서 그대로 올립니다. 우리가 만나는 많은 사람들, 그들과 함께 있던 그 순간들이 얼마나 행복하고 우리 삶에 중요한지 깨닫게 됩니다. 하물며 교회 안에서 형제 자매의 우애를 나눈 우리 성도들에게는 얼마나 값진 것이었는지 새삼 느껴집니다.

Remember: Spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment, for someday that person will not be there again.
Remember to say, “ I love you” to your partner and your loved one, but most of all mean it.
A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.
Give time to love, give time to speak! and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
